“আমাদের মঞ্চ আমরাই গড়েছি” এই শ্লোগানকে বক্ষে ধারণ করে আমরা শব্দাবলী এগিয়ে চলেছি। শব্দাবলীর জন্ম ১৯৭৮ সালের ৩ সেপ্টেম্বর। জন্মলগ্ন থেকে আমরা নিয়মিত নাট্যচর্চায় মগ্ন। আমরা আমাদের বোধ ও উপলব্ধি ব্যক্ত করার চেষ্টা করেছি নাটক প্রযোজনার মধ্য দিয়ে। নিয়মিত নাট্যচর্চা ও নাটক মঞ্চায়নের লক্ষ্যে আমরা সৃষ্টি করেছি দেশের প্রথম স্টুডিও থিয়েটার। ১৯৯১ সনের ৩১ ডিসেম্বর যাত্রা শুরু এ স্টুডিও থিয়েটারে আমরা নিয়মিত সপ্তাহে একদিন (শুক্রবার সন্ধ্যায়) দর্শনীর বিনিময়ে নাটক মঞ্চায়ন করি। আমাদের অধিকাংশ প্রযোজনা নিরীক্ষামূলক। আমাদের এ নিরীক্ষামূলক কাজে বিশেষ করে নির্দেশনার কাজে অংশ নিয়েছে দেশের প্রখ্যাত ও প্রাতিষ্ঠানিক শিক্ষায় শিক্ষিত নাট্য নির্দেশকগণ। আমরা জাতীয় ও আন্তর্জাতিক বিভিন্ন নাট্যউৎসবে অংশ নিই। বাংলা বর্ষবরণে প্রতি বছর বরিশাল কেন্দ্রীয় শহীদ মিনারে উৎসব আয়োজন করি। শিশুদের নিয়ে কাজ করার জন্য বরিশাল শিশু থিয়েটার নামে একটি সংগঠন পরিচালনা করছি।
